Weight loss gurus have preached for long periods of time that people need to reduce their fat intake in order to lose weight. This has proven to be true in most cases. This study showed that the group who were given daily doses of Omega 3’s and exercised lost more weight than the group who were trying to lose weight using diet and exercise alone.
Another study was done and published by an international obesity journal. It showed that when given daily doses of Omega 3 fatty acids every day, people burned more fat than the people who were not given the Omega 3 fatty acids. The group that were studied lost 2 pounds of body fat as opposed to the other group who lost 0.7 pounds of body fat during the study. The study concluded that the group that was given Omega 3 fatty acids burned approximately 25% more fat than the group who were not given the supplement on a daily basis.
One of the studies found that the main reason that the group that lost more fat using Omega 3’s was the fact that their insulin levels were approximately 50 % lower than the test subjects who were not given the supplement. Scientists have known for some time that insulin inhibits the pancreatic enzyme lipase from breaking down fats adequately in the body. Insulin levels can affect the amounts of carbohydrates that are broken down and converted to fats which can be stored in the body.
Omega 3 fish oils are readily available in health food stores and on the internet. They are a good supplement for anyone wanting to improve their health. People who are weight conscious and wanting to improve their body mass index can realize a lot of benefit by adding this supplement to their daily routine. Omega 3 fatty acids can assist with healthy diet, exercise and other life style changes to improve anyone’s life and health.
