Another clinical research study was done to test the effectiveness of whey as opposed to high protein diets for losing body weight and increasing insulin sensitivity. This study was done on lab rats. The rats were fed a high fat diet for six weeks then they were changed over to either a high protein diet or a whey diet. They were then studied to see which group had more insulin sensitivity. The whey fed group showed that they had 40% more insulin sensitivity than the beef fed group. They also had reduced plasma insulin concentration. When the study was completed, the findings were that the whey demonstrated that it was more effective than the beef was losing body weight and increasing the rats insulin sensitivity. They also stated that they felt that whey was an excellent protein choice for a weight loss program and to promote blood glucose regulation.

Researchers in France did a clinical research study that revealed that people who consume whey products before they exercise were able to burn more fat than the other groups who had either fasted before exercising or were given glucose. The scientists felt these findings showed that whey could be used for building more lean muscle mass and healthy body tissues.
