Having a busy schedule can really make it hard to keep up with a healthy lifestyle. If you integrate these tips into your everyday routine, however, it can make things a little bit easier.
- Keep paper napkins handy When you you’re eating something greasy like a slice of pizza, use the napkin to soak up the extra grease
- Use your knife for more than cutting When you order a burger, sandwich, or bagel, use a knife to scrape off the excess condiments
- Tighten your belt Not all the time, of course, but when you get those extra cravings, if you tighten your belt, you’re more likely to skip that extra cookie or slice of cake. Being reminded of the size you want to be will fight those cravings every time!
- Drink more milk Calcium is not only good for your bones, which all of us women need, but it has vitamin D which we all need! A University of Tennessee study has also recently shown that consuming 1,800 mg of calcium a day can block the absorption of 80 calories.
- Spice things up If you like spicy food, then adding hot peppers boots your metabolism temporarily. You can use jalapenos, cayanne, habanero - or any you prefer.
- Eat the peel When eating potatoes, apples, pears - anything with an edible peel - eat it! It adds extra fiber. It’s so easy to get that extra fiber, so why pass it up?
- Put it on a plate No matter what your eating, take the time to put it on a plate. You are more likely to eat less if you lay everything on a plate so that you can see what you are eating. If you eat out of a container, you can’t see what you’re eating, so you’re more likely to eat more. Respect yourself and your food enough to take the time to plate it.
- Drink water before a meal Before you eat, drink a glass of water. This will help you not eat as much. Also, if you’re feeling hungry, it will help you not gorge yourself too quickly.
I hope these tips will help you out like they’ve helped me!
Also, I want to share with you a great contest going on. My friend, Jessi, is giving away some Fiber One products at her blog, The Quirky World of Jessi. It’s easy to enter, and there’s some great prizes to win. Head over there and check it out!
