Water is the lubricant of our functionality. It is a powerful lubricant that makes everything else work. A drink of water is like an internal shower and is precisely what our body requires to carry out all its life processes.
Everyday we take a bath, a shower for us to be clean, feel fresh and be energized. Yes, it is a good health practice. But, how about the internal shower? Have you taken enough water today? Compelling our body to work with limited quantity of fluid, is like trying to take a bath using 1 glass of water. Can you imagine that? Though you’ve taken a bath, maybe you’ll still feel sticky and unclean, right? When you do not drink sufficient quantity of water, your body eliminate that wastes in a more concentrated form, causing body odor, bad breath, dark and disgusting-smelling urine and constipation.
But why is this colorless and tasteless drink so totally necessary, will not other beverages such as fruit juice, diet soda, tea, coffee, carbonated and alcoholic drinks, do the job? Beverages other than water have calories that needs to be digested like food that may produce additional fat storage, fluctuation in the blood sugar, and slows down digestion. Sugar in drinks needs extra water for metabolism. Most beverages augment acid secretion in the stomach. Caffeine-containing and alcoholic drinks worsen dehydration. And lots of soda contain phosphorus, a chemical that can help lessen the body’s calcium supply, causing to brittle bones.
How much water do you need? You need to drink at least eat glasses of pure water everyday.
Why not make a schedule for your water drinking habit? Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, another glass one hour after breakfast and two glasses anytime at midmorning. Drink another glass of water one hour after lunchtime, two glasses anytime at mid afternoon and one about an hour after supper. You can get your quota for the day just by following that simple schedule, not only that, it will also help you not to take an in-between-meals.
