Boots from the West
Western boots were originally used way back during the time of the civil war when many southern Americans moved to Texas donning this gallant footwear. It was then called the Wellington boots. Wellington boots were low cut boots that reached the calf. Their popular footwear was immediately adopted by the Texans who made their own version of the Western boots and have made it a part of their fashion statement. Men and women's Western boots became a popular look in the west from then on. Western boots kept in stride with the increasing popularity of the rodeo. Newer boots with much lower heels and more rounded toes were made to adapt to wear and tear.
In the 1970s, movies and theater have greatly influenced the look of women's Western boots as it became more associated with fashion. The trend of women's Western boots had pointed toes and high heels. Men, on the other hand, wanted to project a true cowboy look wearing boots with lower heels and rounded toes.
Boots Designed for Women
As much as Western boots exude male aura, girls are equally interested in women's Western boots. Not much as part of one's paraphernalia as it is for men, women's Western boots are more likely linked to fashion. Style is the female's top priority in choosing a pair of women's Western boots. These kinds of boots are usually made of leather, mostly from cow hide, and if not, a very good replica of cow's skin. Other animal skin that are commonly made into women's Western boots are those of the alligator, snake, elephant, ostrich, buffalo, elk, eel, sting ray, or that of the lizard's skin. They usually have stiletto heels and are finished with a feminine touch. Sometimes adding a fringe of pastel shade or an attractive tattoo is used to conceal its tough look.
