How to lose weight quickly

There are number of methods that you can adopt to lose your weight quickly. Most of the time our weight is genetically determined and it takes great effort to change. Sometimes after a life threatening event we can overcome early environmental teachings and make changes in our weight out of sheer effort and discipline. Weight loss is not likely need to be permanent, however you may feel the need to achieve this weight loss after having your long vacation, or the heavy meals you have during the holiday season. Your indulgences have led you to those extra inches and pounds and now you need to come back to your normal body size and weight.

Splitting up your daily intake into a number of smaller meals could help you reduce your weight quickly. This regime keeps you always feeling full and thus having no desire to eat. Snack, if you have to, but see to it that they are healthy snacks and can replace the meals that you should be taking. Frequent small meals, but you should be sure that your body has always the right amount of nutrients, which will also help you keep the balance of hormones in your body to their correct levels. In return, this will ensure you that you will always feel full, will avoid overeating and this will do well to your appetite and health.

What food we take in needs to be good food, not empty calories, rich snacks etc. Preferably the calories would be such that we lose weight slowly, no more than 1/2 lb per week. This is usually accomplished by eating about 1/2 of all calories at breakfast, 1/4 of the calories at lunch, and 1/4 of the calories at dinner. It is a good idea to eliminate all fats except for essential fatty acids found in canola oil. It is helpful to eliminate anything made with sugar, cookies and the like. Caffeine and chocolate need to be avoided because they stimulate insulin release and increase hunger. That leaves a lot of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, low fat milk products and egg whites available for eating. For a 150 pound person, a reasonable starting point would be 10 oz of lean protein or starch, vitamins and six 8-oz glasses of water per day, (5 ounces at breakfast, 2 1/2 ounces for lunch and dinner). Follow the weight loss daily and make adjustments in the exercise and caloric input on a weekly basis to achieve 1/2 lb weight loss per week. Faster weight loss means faster weight gain later.

Aspartame and artificial sweeteners are contained in all processed foods and could be adding to your weight problems. They are toxic and can make you consume some toxins on your diet. Also stay away from luncheon meats and white flour. By eliminating all processed foods and that of the artificial drinks from you daily diet, you could lose as many as 5 pounds. Cut out the artificial sweeteners, processed meats or white flour and drink a lot of fluids (water preferably). This will flush out all the toxins and could make you feel much healthier and quite on top the world.

If we want to lose weight and keep it off there are a few tricks to the trade. The laws of physics still apply. If we take in calories, they are either eliminated in the stool, stored as fat, or burned for heat or motion. The best time to exercise is anytime, but the most effective time is when we can enjoy it and make it a habit. A good start is to exercise slowly for a minute and gradually increase the time to 20 minutes three times per day. This would be like walking 3-4 miles in a day or walking on the treadmill for an hour total, daily. It doesn’t have to be painful but it does have to be consistent.

Help yourself with a lesser food when you serve yourself during a meal. Do this consistently and you will soon find out that you are losing weight. Follow this practice even when you are eating out, and do not ask for the ‘large’ or ’supersize’ food or drinks. Eat what constitutes a normal serving and also avoid the heavy creams and add-ons. Lesser food would help you burn food faster and also ensure that your caloric intake is reduced. This could make you smile the next time you weigh yourself.

We need to keep our thyroid functioning in the high-normal range. We need to know if we are holding the diabetic genes, or have high triglycerides, or high sugar. Perfect metabolic control is essential. There are as many diets out there as there are people who would like to make money from anyone who can buy the book. Some diets are helpful if we need strict external control of what we eat. Some are dangerous. Some just play with our fears. Success comes when the habits relating to eating and exercise come from within us. Even if the long term success rate is low, who knows, you might be the one in ten that actually succeeds in making a very significant change in life. Live abundantly.

Calorie Counting Note:
Both protein and starch give 4 KCal per gram of food, so calculating calories is easy. About one ounce of starch or protein is equal to 30 grams of food. This translates into 120 KCal / ounce. So if one is about 70 Kg or 154 lb, a reasonable starting point for a diet would be 1200 KCal. This is 10 ounces of protein or starch per day, 5 ounces at breakfast, 2 1/2 ounces for lunch and dinner.
