Natural cures for cellulite

Cellulite is the bane of women over the age of 30. It is those lumpy and bumpy areas that women try to hide. These occur on the upper thighs, buttocks, abdomen, chin, breasts, and upper arms. There are many creams, massage, massage oils, wraps, injections, lasers, and even liposuction which as designed to remove cellulite on the market today. Women spend millions of dollars every year trying to rid themselves of skin issues of which cellulite is one of the biggest by far. Let’s face it everyone wants to look good in a pair of shorts, short skirt or sleeveless blouse. No one wants to have those saddle bags or thunder thighs showing for the world to see!

Cellulite is caused for several reasons. It is made up of fibrous tissue and fat cells which lie right under the dermis in the subcutaneous layers of the skin. Cellulite shows up most in the areas of the skin where it is the thinnest at. Cellulite is caused when the blood flow and the lymphatic systems are unable to get fluids and blood to all of the tissues freely as they should. This is one reason that we do not see cellulite until after a certain age in life. One reason that women have more cellulite than men is the fact that their skin is thinner than a mans. Women also produce a lot more estrogen in their bodies which causes fluid build up in the fatty tissues. This also encourages fat stores around the abdomen, buttocks and upper thighs.

Pregnancy can cause cellulite to show up as well. There is a hormone that is produced during pregnancy that causes relaxation of muscle tissue in order to prepare the body for delivery. This also can break down the fibrous tissues and cause irregular areas of connective tissue in areas. This also causes decreased function and production of collagen which helps to keep our skin young looking, elastic and healthy.

So what are some ways to get rid of cellulite or to improve the appearance of it that can be done at home? There are many things that can be done to help the appearance of cellulite. One is regular exercise and drinking plenty of fluids. Regular activity keeps the skin nice and firm. This helps to decrease the appearance of saggy baggy skin and cellulite formation.

Regular massage can help to break up some cellulite especially in the buttocks and upper thigh areas. There are several massage techniques that can be used for this. They can be learned and done at home by a friend or partner if the person cannot reach the areas themselves.

Caffeine has been reported to help decrease the severity of cellulite. Make a concoction of two tablespoons of coffee grounds mixed with olive oil. Rub it into the areas that need to be improved. Wrap with area with plastic wrap. Leave the mixture on for thirty minutes to one hour. Rinse the mixture off in the shower. Repeat this treatment three to four times a week.

Take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, 1 cup of sea salts and ¼ cup of Epsom salts and place them in a warm bath. Soak in the bath for at least fifteen to twenty minutes. Towel dry off and then massage in a mixture of lavender, rosemary, lemon oil, and eucalyptus essential oils that are diluted in grapeseed oil. To prepare this mixture add 15 drops of each essential oil to 4 ounces of grapeseed oil. This mixture is good for 30 days after being put together. Massage in the essential oil mixture for approximately 10 minutes. Discard the mixture after 30 days.
